West Ham and Crystal Palace interested in Alex Scott transfer as Bristol City slap £20m price tag on 19-year-old

Alan Nixon

WHIZKID Alex Scott has had a £20million price tag slapped on his head by Bristol City.

Many pundits were surprised when the England Under-20 midfielder did not move last month.

Crystal Palace and West Ham are among those who recently checked on 19-year-old Scott.

But neither are likely to go close to the Robins’ valuation in the summer window.

Bristol welcomed the signing of Anis Mehmeti from Wycombe in January on a three-and-a-half year deal.

And despite the Premier League interest for Scott, the midfielder is looking forward to partnering with Mehmeti.

Scott said: "He's a special player from what I've seen.

"I think even on the first day when he came in and we saw a bit of each other in ourselves in the way we dribble.

"We're very similar, I think he's a lot more direct. He will dribble at you and make you look silly.

"Obviously, his finishing is ridiculous and that's definitely to come. The fans can be excited by that.

West Ham line up Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Declan Rice replacement if captain asks for summer transfer

Alan Nixon

WEST HAM are putting Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic top of their list to replace Declan Rice.

The Serbian midfield strongman has been priced out of moves to the Premier League in the past but is about to enter the last season of his contract in the summer.

And Hammers are hot on his trail, with boss David Moyes sending trusted spy Alan Irvine to watch him in action last week.

Milinkovic-Savic, 27, will have plenty of interest in the next window but he may now be in West Ham’s range as the bigger clubs seem to have overlooked him.

The powerful and skilful operator is a Moyes type and has similarities to Rice, who is likely to be sold at the end of the season.

Hammers expect a massive offer for Rice, who will be tempted by a super salary as one of the biggest captures around.

So Moyes is scouring the market for replacements.

West Ham are also watching developments with Kalvin Phillips at Manchester City.

The midfielder was not enthusiastic when they tried for him a year ago while he was still at Leeds.

But that may change if he wants more first-team football again.

Caught Offside

Man UTD prepared to sell £120m quartet to West Ham

Reports suggest Manchester United could be ready to offload four stars this summer in a bid to raise funds and make room for new arrivals.

Erik ten Hag oversaw five permanent signings last summer; Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Antony and Casemiro, whilst the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani exited out the Carrington doors.

Currently, there is ongoing speculation regarding a potential United takeover. There have been confirmed big-money bids from Qatar, America and England, meaning the prospect of significant financial backing at the end of the season is becoming increasingly likely.

Consequently, Ten Hag must decide which players no longer fit into the project he is building in Manchester, and who could be replaced when more funds become available.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has predicted that the Irons could set their sights on a quartet of Reds on their way out; Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial. The latter has proven prolific goalscoring ability but his fitness and injury concerns have become a prevailing issue throughout his United career.

Jacobs on United’s outgoings

”The first thing is to stress though is that outgoings are going to be very important. And Scott McTominay is one name that could depart. Ten Hag is quite glad that he’s there and he made it quite clear he didn’t want to entertain any January offers.

“But come the summer, because Casemiro has come in, McTominay will be available on the market. Newcastle, in particular, are one to watch there.

”Donny van de Beek is another one. It can be quite hard sometimes to return from injury and immediately find a club. So we have to wait and see whether he stays or goes.

“Anthony Martial is another one to watch. West Ham have really liked the player in the past and a Monaco return is not unthinkable either. It’s a shame really because everyone at Manchester United likes Martial. But fitness has been a problem and that might well provoke a move.

“And then Harry Maguire is linked with a different club every day. We will see in the summer whether he finally ends up moving. It’s hard on Maguire, but that clears up the squad a little bit.”

So... United's raspberries and cast offs in exchange for Rice then, is it?

Feckin HELL... thank God I am no longer ST, I really couldn't stomach this abysmal stench of FAILURE that emanates from the London Stadium these days.

Moyes should've been gone six games in, he has no clue and no intention of doing anything about it. He'll take the big fat one at season's end and vanish into retirement, while the rest of us have to go on, and on, and on...
